Homestead Exemption - What is it and How Can I File?

What is the Residence Homestead Exemption?

The homestead exemption is a benefit which allows you to save on property taxes by allowing you to exclude a portion of your home’s value from your assessment. For example, if your home has a value of $400,000 and you qualify for a $25,000 exemption, you will pay taxes on the house as if it was worth $375,000.

How do I file?

Submit your application, along with supporting documentation, with the appraisal district where the property is located. See below to the link to your county's application! *The address on your driver license must match the property address before you can file.*
