Moving is stressful to begin with. Now let’s add starting a new job, moving across the country with a dog, 20+ hours of driving, buying a house, and a traumatic back injury, and you’ve got our situation.
My partner Gabriel was offered a tremendous job opportunity that required us to relocate from Alexandria, Virginia to Dallas, Texas. It required a 6-month temporary training assignment in Delaware, during which we were traveling back and forth each weekend. We knew the month of our relocation, but we were not given any details of what the move would entail and were told to wait until further instructions. Those instructions arrived TWO weeks before our move date, when HR had FINALLY approved it in their system.
Thankfully—we had Jamie!
I was connected with her through a work colleague I had met at a conference. And I decided to reach out to her 2 months before our official move date. We immediately clicked and she took us out for coffee and listened to our situation (more like ordeal ha!). She’d had experience with other clients who’d had to relocate for work, and she eased our sheer anxiety/panic when we had not been hearing back from Gabriel’s work. To say she was an angel would be an understatement. Not only was she super responsive, but she also helped us come up with contingency plans and hooked us up with our temporary living space (owned by her client).
When we were finally settled and ready to house hunt, she introduced us to the AMAZING Tiya and the team at Unlocking DFW, and they all got to work on finding us our dream home! They connected us with Jackson at CrossCountry Mortgage, who got us pre-approved and financially ready for the purchase. Regina, our transaction coordinator, kept us informed during every task, and answered ALL our questions (which were A LOT) and most importantly, helped us get all of the issues that the inspection revealed, resolved. I own my home in Virginia, and I told them several times that the process was night and day from what I experienced. They were always on the ball, and I want to convey that their experience and professionalism truly set them apart.
Not only did they help with the purchase of the home, I can honestly say that they’ve also made our transition into Dallas life, incredible!!! They sent us countless care packages when we ended up in the hospital during Gabriel’s back injury. They sent us housewarming packages at every step of the process, and those little touches helped me retain my sanity and brought me such joy during an otherwise extremely stressful process. I am so thankful each and every day for all their help and would 100/10 recommend them to every single person that asks if I know a good realtor (soon to be broker)!
Go with Unlocking DFW, you won’t regret it!
